Job Details

• MedSurg - Level 8 - 13 position at Weirton Medical Center
• Common diagnoses include Pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, Alcohol withdrawal, falls/weakness
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-7 on days, 1:6-8 on nights
• Experience required: 1 year
• Charge Nurse on each shift takes patient assignment unless only one is scheduled at night.

Job Requirements

• RN License required
• 1 year of experience required
• First time travelers accepted

Schedule Information

• Shifts: RNs 7-7, CNAs 6-6
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling
• Schedule made by manager with consideration for requested time off
• Every other weekend required
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Floating to other MS, MS-Tele, or IMC for lower acuity patients may occur

Unit Specific Information

• 1 day of unit/department specific orientation with an educator
• 1 day with a preceptor; 12 hr nights, weekends as scheduled

Additional Details

• Common titratable drips include heparin, bumex, lasix
• Nurse aids/patient care techs on unit with a ratio of 1:10-12 on average
• RT administers breathing treatments and manages respiratory equipment
• Monitor tech located on level 5, nurses not expected to read tele strips
