Refrigeration Mechanic - 2nd Shift at CONAGRA summary:

The Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing heating, ventilation, air, and refrigeration equipment, primarily focused on ammonia systems while adhering to safety and quality standards. This position involves performing daily checks, conducting scheduled maintenance, and leading the refrigeration team to resolve technical issues. The role requires at least 2 years of experience in refrigeration maintenance or related fields, along with certifications in safety protocols and excellent communication skills.

Shift: This role is 2nd Shift, 4:00 PM-4:00 AM

Hourly Rate: $27.27 an hour

Job Summary: The Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for a variety of responsibilities including troubleshooting and repairing heating, ventilation, air, and refrigeration equipment involving ammonia or other refrigerants following safety standards, performing daily checks on refrigeration systems/equipment, cleaning and changing filters while observing all safety regulations and ensuring GMP and quality standards are met.

Starting pay up to $27.27 per hour and Attendance Bonus! ($0.50 for first shift and $0.60 for second shift) You will be on 2nd shift, and you will be onsite at the facility located in Council Bluffs, Iowa. You will report to the Maintenance Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

• Work the scheduled/assigned times and required overtime for position
• Regular attendance to ensure production requirements are met
• Read blueprints, drawings, plans
• Knowledge of Planned Maintenance
• Intermediate math skills
• Complete work/purchase requests

You Will:

• Troubleshoot and repair heating, ventilation, air, and refrigeration equipment involving ammonia or other refrigerants following safety standards
• Perform daily checks on all refrigeration systems/equipment
• Lead the refrigeration team to accomplish tasks or resolve issues
• Replace and repair boilers, ammonia system, coolers, compressors, and HVAC systems
• Perform scheduled maintenance on evaporators and condensers
• Change and clean filters promptly
• Monitor, clean, and repair plant systems (e.g., condensers, traps, and filtrations)
• Requisition parts and supplies
• Inspect and clean work areas using proper tools according to procedure
• Complete required paperwork promptly, read, write and comprehend English
• Repair/replace; modify machinery, wiring, piping
• Maintain and complete all required documentation following OSHA and EPA regulatory requirements (e.g., logs, records, and checklist)

You Have:

• Knowledge of Plant safety, GMP's
• Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
• Be LOTO/PIT/confined space certified
• Be respirator trained
• Be HAZMAT trained and a member of the HAZMAT team

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED required. Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of refrigeration maintenance or related experience required. Commercial HVAC experience required. Industrial experience preferred.
