Job Title: Protective Services Investigator
Salary Range: $28.89 - $36.53 per hour

Are you passionate about protecting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities? Klamath County Developmental Disabilities Services (KCDDS) is seeking a dedicated Protective Services Investigator to join our team and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Position Overview: As a Protective Services Investigator, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing our Protective Services Program. Your responsibilities will include conducting investigations, educating staff and providers, and ensuring compliance with protective service regulations. You will work to safeguard adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and collaborate with a team of professionals to uphold the mission of KCDDS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct abuse investigations and provide protective services for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, whether currently enrolled or previously eligible for services.
  • Educate KCDDS staff, individuals, and providers on protective services and mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Enhance your knowledge and skills through continuous learning and participation in quarterly OTIS meetings, with at least one in-person meeting annually.
  • Report and investigate complaints of abuse, write comprehensive reports, and monitor the implementation of recommendations. Report any suspected criminal activity to law enforcement.
  • Directly report any suspected or observed child abuse to the Department or local law enforcement.
  • Manage CAM process functions, report serious incidents and county trends to ODDS, and complete investigations in compliance with OAR 407-045-0250 to 407-045-0360.
  • Assist in developing and implementing CDDP emergency planning in alignment with Klamath County’s Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
  • Participate in both departmental and position-specific trainings and co-lead the KCDDS PSI Team with other Protective Services Investigator Specialists.
  • Collaborate to maintain the PSI section of the KCDDS Policies and Procedures Manual.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human science, social science, behavioral science, or criminal science with two years of relevant experience; or an Associate degree with four years of experience.
  • Knowledge of Oregon’s public service system for developmental disabilities and the ability to pass competency-based training from OTIS within one year of hire.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Oregon Driver's License.
  • Ability to complete 20 hours of I/DD training annually and required ODDS and KCDDS orientation trainings. Core competency training must be completed within the first year.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of developmental disability services, community resources, and confidentiality rules.
  • Skills in investigative techniques, critical thinking, effective communication, and case management.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information, maintain professional relationships, and present clear reports.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting and use of hands; occasional standing, walking, reaching, and talking. Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Good vision, including close and peripheral vision.

Salary and Benefits
This is an hourly, non-exempt position, with a wage range of $28.89 - $36.53 per hour.  The pay range listed here reflects the FULL pay range for this position for the current fiscal year.  Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.
