PURPOSE OF POSITION

Podiatrists perform podiatric medical and surgical care in a hospital, diagnostic treatment center, nursing facility or neighborhood family care center in conformance with the New York State Scope of Practice for podiatry and the Bylaws of the Medical/Dental/Podiatry Staff of Gotham Health. Specific privileges granted based on PGY level, experience and demonstrated competence.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Full time Position in a clinical setting, Ambulatory Care, Skilled Nursing, Neighborhood Health. Expected to work Monday-Friday, also rotating sessions on weekends, floating holidays & evening sessions (once a week). Full time Podiatrist expected to provide general Podiatric care to patient population. Surgical privileges upon request following 6 months and only upon certification proving prior surgical residency/experience (e.g. board certification)

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Make rounds; examine patients; take medical histories; prescribes diagnostic tests; provide or direct medical and surgical treatment as pertains to the human foot; arrange for follow-up treatment or make appropriate disposition of cases.
  2. Prescribe corrective footwear.
  3. Advise patient or responsible family members concerning care, use of medicine and other related matters.
  4. Attend clinic conferences, lectures, training sessions and other in-service programs.
  5. Perform related work.
  6. Consult with other members of the professional staff.
  7. Give supervision, guidance and direction to the house staff and other members of the healthcare
Minimum Qualifications 1. Valid license and current registration to practice Podiatry issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Department Preferences

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:

Spanish preferred

CERTIFICATION(S)/LICENSE(S):

License to practice podiatry issued by the State of New York.

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

Graduation from an accredited podiatric medical school.

EQUIPMENT/MACHINES OPERATED:

Podiatry Chair, Podiatry Instruments, Computers/Scanners/Copiers/Fax/Telephone etc.

COMPUTER PROGRAMS/SOFTWARE OPERATED
