Position Type: Support Staff/Library Media Assistant Date Posted: 4/24/2025 Location: Ranch Elementary School Date Available: 04/24/2025 Hourly Rate: Base $15.63 per hour; Additional credit for related years of service and related education. Hours: Full-time, up to 8 Hours per Day FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Contract: 10 Months, 192 Days Benefits: Eligible the first of the month following date of hire. Evaluation: 90-days and Annual Reports to: Library Facilitator or Principal Position Goal To support the Library Facilitator and maintain the Media Center's collection of materials with minimum direct supervision, while exercising judgment within the scope of authority. AA Degree or equivalent of 60 hours Proficiency in secretarial skills Two (2) years of office experience Computer data entry experience preferred Bilingual ability maybe be require per advertised vacancy specifications Knowledge of word processing applications to include desktop publishing and office technology as related to departmental job functions. Knowledge of current copyright law for print and non-print materials Understanding library procedures, specifically cataloging ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain the MARC record database(s) of instructional materials in the Library/Media Center Develop catalogs of instructional materials available for the use by district and school-based personnel Maintain patron and media circulation records on the library system including all reports necessary to maintain control of inventory and fee assessment. Monitor the timely return of instructional materials and serve as liaison with teachers and parents for any problems with scheduling and return of instructional materials. Maintain accurate inventory of instructional materials and prepare appropriate paperwork for removal/addition of items, when needed. Assist both district and school-based personnel with locating and scheduling needed instructional materials Maintain accurate records of preview materials being considered for purchase and work closely with purchasing agent to follow procurement regulations. Maintain central control for ordering of all magazine subscriptions for all school sites Use the computer to collect, tabulate, and report data necessary to the operation of the department, school, and the district Maintain departmental schedule and calendar for possible distribution Assist in training volunteer and student aides Perform other duties as assigned by the Library Facilitator.
