KGVA 88.1 FM Radio Station Manager

Position Description

Position: KGVA Station Manager

Performance Description: To provide the best quality student and community service. This full-time, 12-month position is supervised by the President.

Performance Responsibilities

In accordance with the Aaniiih Nakoda College Mission Statement and College Core Themes and Goals, the KGVA Station Manager shall:

  1. Administer KGVA Radio Station duties to provide optimal programming and internal operations within available financial resources. Responsible for managing station equipment, excluding the transmitter tower, which is the Physical Plant supervisor's responsibility.
  2. Supervise station programmers, announcers, and volunteers. Make personnel recommendations to the College President regarding employee performance.
  3. Collaborate with college administration to develop and implement station goals and objectives, including the station management plan and program evaluations.

Additional duties include:

  • Performing assigned duties in accordance with station policies, FCC regulations, and grant requirements.
  • Managing FCC reporting, station budgets, and preparing annual and monthly reports.
  • Establishing and working with a station advisory board.
  • Having experience in management, broadcasting, programming, underwriting, budgeting, equipment maintenance, and supervision.

Qualifications

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree; an associate degree in business management or a related field is acceptable.
  • Knowledge of FCC, CPB, and related compliance issues. Familiarity with community radio FCC rules and regulations.
  • Management experience, including supervision, delegation, financial management, and business accounting.
  • Willingness to perform on-air shifts, both scheduled and impromptu, with knowledge of programming and advertising.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interviewing skills.
  • Leadership experience as a team leader and member.
  • Knowledge of indigenous tribes and cultural sensitivity to people of color.
