Overview

EMS Air Ambulance - Aircraft: EC130 (VFR) $40,000 stipend + Off-Duty Housing + $15,000 Sign-on Bonus

Air Methods is seeking an experienced and safety-focused EMS Helicopter Pilot to join our team in Artesia, New Mexico . This role involves providing lifesaving air medical transport, ensuring timely and safe flights for patients and medical crews.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate aircraft safely following Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) , General Operations Manual (GOM) , and company policies.
  2. Assess weather and flight conditions to confirm airworthiness before each mission.
  3. Collaborate with medical teams to facilitate prompt patient transport.
  4. Maintain proficiency in emergency procedures and aircraft systems.
  5. Make sound aeronautical decisions demonstrating strong judgment.

Requirements:

  1. FAA Commercial Rotorcraft License with Instrument Rating.
  2. Over 2,000 hours total flight time.
  3. Strong situational awareness and ability to operate in challenging environments.

Additional Responsibilities:

Operate aircraft safely and legally. Complete pre-flight checks, sign off Daily Flight Log, conduct walk-arounds. Be the final authority on aircraft operation and safety. Be familiar with aircraft and medical systems. Complete required documentation. Conduct detailed flight planning with minimal notice. Participate in meetings, activities, and community outreach.

Qualifications:

Must be able to perform essential functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations will be provided per law.

Skills: Experience flying in category for a commercial operator or military within the last 24 months. Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, EMS, hospitals, and the public.

Operation and Safety Requirements: Weight not to exceed 250 pounds; age less than 70 years.

Flight Time Requirements:

VFR Program:

  • 2000 total hours, 1500 in category
  • 1000 PIC hours in category
  • 500 turbine hours
  • 200 cross-country hours, 50 at night
  • 100 unaided night hours as PIC (or 50 unaided + 100 NVG hours)
  • 50 instrument hours in flight and category

IFR Program:

  • 2500 total hours, 2000 in category
  • 1000 PIC hours in category
  • 500 turbine hours
  • 500 cross-country hours, 100 at night
  • 100 unaided night hours as PIC
  • 75 instrument hours in flight and category

IFR-Fixed Wing Program:

  • 2500 total hours, 2000 in category
  • 1000 PIC hours in category
  • 500 cross-country hours, 100 at night
  • 500 turbine hours
  • 100 unaided night hours as PIC
  • 100 instrument hours in flight and category

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Commercial & Instrument Rating
  • ATP rating in category
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical Certificate

Education & Experience:

Associates degree or equivalent plus 2-5 years of related experience; Bachelors preferred.

Internal 14-day window: 3.14.25-3.27.25
