Digital Marketing Intern

Return Records | Hybrid | Part-Time | Summer 2025 | 10-20 Hours per Week

Description:

Return Records is an independent sound recording corporation based in New York, NY. The label distributes through The Orchard and Sony Music Entertainment, with U.S. publishing administration through Sony Music Publishing. Return Records looks to become a "Motown" for the digital age by providing the building blocks of success for emerging musicians, creators, and artists. The label specializes in House, Pop, Disco, Funk, Soul, and R&B.

This role is crucial to supporting artist marketing and distribution and expanding the label's presence in the music scene by managing relationships and increasing exposure for our artists. Your efforts will be vital to promoting the house, pop, disco, funk, and soul expressions that power the label’s community.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Conduct market research on preferences, competitors, and trends
• Assist with promotional events, trade shows, or other marketing events
• Create promotional materials for social media, blogs, or newsletters
• Manage social media profiles to create, schedule, and engage with posts
• Maintain and update press lists for industry connections
• Draft and distribute monthly newsletters, press releases, and playlist submissions
• Bring awareness of music industry trends and news alerts

Compensation:

• Internship will be unpaid. College students are required to show proof of admittance for school credit.
• Commitment of 10-20 hours per week for a minimum of 4 months.
• Internship takes place between May and August 2025 with an option to extend upon satisfactory completion

Qualifications:

• Ability to work independently and multitask effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; detail-oriented.
• Deep passion for music and familiarity with the music business.
• Ability to adapt to ever-changing priorities and environments.
• Experience with office productivity software like Google, Microsoft, Atlassian, Adobe, Squarespace, and Canva.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and marketing tech solutions.
• Familiarity with digital streaming services and music data sites.
• Pursuing or having completed a degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Music Business, Media & Entertainment, Events Management, or a related field preferred.
• Local to the tri-state area (New York/New Jersey/Connecticut) preferred.
