Controller - Property Accounting

Overview:

Hixen Search Group has been retained by a well-respected family-owned business in the real estate space as they search for a Controller. This role will report to the CFO and will slowly integrate as the succession plan for the CFO seat. This person will oversee a team and must have strong property accounting experience and an interest in mentoring and developing lower-level staff. The company has a laid back culture and strong growth plan, providing excellent stability and balance.

Responsibilities:

• Manage team of direct reports - review and analyze their work
• Manage small portfolio of most impactful properties within the company
• Work directly with Owners & Leadership - very outward facing role
• Build system efficiencies and continue to scale the Department
• Slowly integrate into the CFO succession planning - 5 year plan

Desired Candidate Profile:

• 7+ years of experience // real estate industry preferred
• Strong month-end close, financial reporting, forecasting
• Excellent communicator - polished and approachable
• Yardi is a plus
