Overview Opportunity: Chief Engineer Manage general and preventative maintenance functions to ensure guest service and sustainability standards are achieved and maintained throughout the hotel. Potential Career Path Area Chief Engineer – Regional Director of Engineering Essential Job Functions Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates, ensuring they perform according to brand or hotel standards and HHM core values. Maintain the hotel R&M budget. Conduct room inspections and identify repair needs. Manage bids, quotes, and contracts for third-party vendors. Oversee small projects or PIPS, manage and report progress. Install or repair sheetrock and other wall coverings. Paint designated areas and items. Install and replace basic electrical fixtures, light switches, receptacles, and light bulbs. Install, replace, and program televisions. Perform minor plumbing functions. Maintain heating and cooling pumps, perform preventative maintenance, and repair units. Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and complete work orders; keep accurate records. Maintain the building exterior and grounds’ curb appeal. Refurbish, paint, and finish furniture and fixtures as needed. Test and maintain hotel’s life safety systems for 100% operational status. Maintain repair and preventative maintenance records, ensure compliance with service contracts and codes. Work towards increasing guest satisfaction scores. Follow sustainability practices related to HHM’s EarthView program. Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment, and follow MSDS and OSHA standards. Perform other duties as requested by management. Provide weekly updates to the Corporate or Regional Director of Engineering. Position Requirements High School diploma or trade school coursework in related field preferred. Previous supervisory engineer/maintenance experience or equivalent training required. Certifications may be required. Work Environment and Context Work schedule varies; may include holidays, weekends, or alternate shifts. Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, or crouching.
